Is infrared thermography the key to precision estrous cycle monitoring?

Congratulations to several of our colleagues, led by doctor Veronika Borbélyová, who published a paper on using infrared thermography to monitor the ocular surface to determine the estrous cycle in rats. Although this method is non-invasive, it is less accurate than vaginal smears, requiring at least 12 days to determine the phase of the estrous cycle.
