IMBM SUMMER SCHOOL OF BIOMEDICINE FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS

Are you interested in biology, chemistry, medicine, or other natural sciences? Would you like to gain new knowledge and experience in the laboratory? Would you like to contribute to a better understanding of diseases’ origin, non-invasive diagnostics, or new causal treatment of various pathologies?

If so, don’t hesitate to apply for the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine 2024 at the Institute of Molecular Biomedicine (IMBM) at the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava!

The IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine 2024 aims to acquaint students with the basic methods of biomedical research and to show the beauty of scientific research. During the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine 2024, students will have the opportunity to learn the basic methods of biomedical research and try research work in the laboratories of IMBM by participating in ongoing IMBM projects.

If you are interested, register for the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine 2024 by filling out the Google form, sending your CV, motivation letter and your expectations from the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine 2024 (PDF, maximum length one page A4) to summerschool@imbm.sk by 20.6.2024!

Please note that the number of IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine participants is limited, so please do not postpone your registration. Information on successful applicants to the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine 2024 will be published on our website by 24.6.2024!

Preliminary program of seminars for students of the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine for July 2024:

Seminar program on Monday (1^st July 2024) at Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), Dúbravská cesta 9, Pavilion of Medical Sciences, block B, 6^th floor:

1. Rules of safe work in the laboratory (8:00-9:00)
2. Science at IMBM – Introductory seminar (9:00-11:00)
3. Lunch (11:00-12:00)
4. Rules of working at IMBM and writing reports (12:00-14:00)
5. SAS Laboratories (14:00-15:00)

Seminar program for Tuesday (2^nd July 2024) at Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University, Sasinkova 4, 5th floor:

1. Presentation of IMBM projects (9:00-10:00)
2. Seminar on working with laboratory animals (10:00-11:30)
3. Lunch (11:30-12:30)
4. Calculations and statistics (12:30-14:00)
5. Laboratories at Faculty of Medicine (14:00-16:00)

Friday (5^th July 2024) – Public holiday

The students of the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine 2024 will be divided within July in a way that allows us to work with them simultaneously in our laboratories at the SAS and also at the Faculty of Medicine. Participation in the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine is free of charge, however, we cannot provide accommodation for participants of the IMBM Summer School of Biomedicine in Bratislava. There are student accommodation services available for you or you can use other accommodation options (airbnb, booking). The student accommodation options you can find here:
